Defecate every where other than toilet

India is the country having one of the highest numbers of billionaires, at the same time more than 640 million people defecating open. Now as per the World Bank definition we are a middle income country and trying desperately to get a sit in Security Council. Many of the European countries will envy our growth, at the same time we are a country where defecating open is an accepted social norm and we do and discuss with immense joy. Very few of us are ashamed of this practise. One latest report suggests that state like Bihar could have easily avoided nearly 400 rape cases of adolescent girls if there had been a toilet in the house.

When we went out with our family, we first see that whether the hotel has a clean toilet or not. Even we some time fancied around for having a bath tub also. However, on the way when we cross the villages, we are least concerned why a small child going outside, near the road going for open defecation or why a girl is walking down miles and miles for fetching a bucket of drinking water. You will find cold drinks/mineral water bottles in remotest tourist’s places, but not clean drinking water or a small 4/4 place to defecate.

But we are a middle income country with second highest growth rate after China.
